UTAs student Government has become incredibly woke ever since the conservative student government was impeached this past spring over political differences. Now the new student government is promoting abortion and praising abortion while saying that democracy has “failed” because Roe v. Wade was overturned.
UTAs SGA decided to release a statement reacting to the Roe v. Wade being overturned. The statement criticizes the ruling and states that it is a backward move for the US. It even goes on to say that students need to vote as a collective as this election will be one of the most important in our lifetimes. Equity is even echoed as they mention that this will disproportionally affect Black Americans and Hispanic Americans.
UTA is a taxpayer-funded institution with tens of thousands of students attending. I find it very odd that the very people that complained about the last student body government for being political are now being political. Is only leftwing ideology allowed?
The SGA does not represent the student body but a few groups that align with their leftwing social justice ideology. Most adore AOC, and several woke posts have been made. Not only that, but the pronoun premise is now widely used by the SGA.
Will the social activist groups protest this political act? Nope, they won’t since they are on board for as long as it’s people that align with their beliefs.
The SGA should be neutral on these issues but of course they will never represent all students. Do better UTA.
